There is a new role available to apply for as an Inspector in the Animals in Science Regulations Unit (ASRU) in the Home Office.
ASRU is responsible for protecting animals used in science by maintaining compliance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA).
The role of the inspector is central to the maintenance of public confidence that animals used in science are protected from unnecessary harms and as an inspector you will have an important role in the implementation of the controls on regulated procedures applied to animals covered by ASPA.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and your work will involve assessing applications for licences, providing advice on how to comply with ASPA and conducting on site visits and audits.
The role of an inspector requires a veterinary or medical qualification and presents an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills in and develop expertise in regulatory delivery.
